"Run slow, go far"

Who I Am

I was born in La Línea de la Concepción, Cádiz, but it was in Asturias where I grew up and where the mountains began to play a central role in my life. I was raised there with my mother and my maternal grandparents, in an environment that, over time, shaped the way I understand sport and nature.

I’ve always been an active person. As a child, I played football, but after the 2020 pandemic, the sport came to a halt and I felt the need to find another way to keep moving. I started running because it was a safe, individual activity that fit around work and family life. At first, it was road running — but very soon, encouraged by a relative, I made the move into the mountains.

Within just a month, I knew I had found my place. Climbing uphill, taking in the views, escaping the noise and the constant background sound I was used to… everything clicked naturally. The mountains became an essential part of my daily life.

I currently work for a multinational company connected to the sports industry and I’m a father of two, which makes my days full and busy. Even so, I always find time to train and continue growing as a runner.

My Journey

In sport, I’ve been fortunate to achieve important milestones: becoming Asturias Ultra-distance Champion, Spanish Team Champion with the Asturias regional team, and Spanish Team Champion at the RFEA National Championships with Club Oriente Atletismo.

Beyond results, what I value most is the path I’ve taken — going through injuries, knowing when to stop, and coming back with renewed motivation. Consistency, hard work, and the ability to listen to my body have been key to my development as a runner.

On a personal level, my greatest achievement has been building a family with my wife.

For me, the mountains are part of my daily routine, both in training and competition. They are my passion and a space that brings me peace, motivation, and joy.

My Outdoor Essence

When I head to the mountains, I always bring… Proper clothing and trail shoes, my phone, water, sports nutrition, and an emergency blanket with a photo of my family.

If I wanted to introduce someone to the outdoor world, I would take them to… Being from Asturias, without a doubt, Picos de Europa.

When I’m not in the mountains, I’m… Enjoying time with my family.

The most important thing the mountains have taught me is… To listen to my sensations — to know when to push, when to ease off, and even when to stop. I’ve learned to be patient and to understand that, in the end, with consistency and sacrifice, you get there.

A landscape or moment in the mountains I’ll never forget is… The first time I climbed Urriellu.
